My oldest son, a sophomore at college, recently joined the TRIO program. This program was created to help my son get through college. This federally funded program allows students in four areas: academic, financial, and career. It also assists with personal/social issues. He received a study tip article from them, which he then sent to me. It was amazing to me how the tips were not only geared towards studying but also for everyday life.
Here’s what I took away from the article.
Overloading our plates can cause us to become overwhelmed in everyday life. We don’t realize that it is possible to accomplish everything on time and efficiently. The only way to achieve this is to learn how to manage your time and organize your day. These tips will help you manage your time and organize your days.
1. Plan
It doesn’t matter how well you plan; if you don’t allow yourself enough time to accomplish everything, you are setting yourself up for failure. It doesn’t matter how long it takes to finish a task. Give yourself more time than you think. This will allow you to have more time for other charges if the job is completed in a shorter time.
2. Time
You can develop a habit by working your business the same way every day. Although daily routines are helpful in creating a pattern, it is not possible to set it if your business isn’t run the same way every single day. Habit formation can take anywhere from 1-2 weeks. If you are determined to make your business work every day, the habit will come.
3. No Charge Time
Although hard work is essential to your business’ success, it is essential to have some free time. You may have the ability to take “me time” depending on your schedule and goals for your business. Your free time should be used to your advantage. You may find that you are spending more time on your business than you do on other things. Your free time will disappear, but your success will be unmatched.
4. Breaks
You may believe that you can only achieve business success if your work is done every day. But if you don’t take breaks, you could become exhausted. If you work for someone else, you have the right to take breaks throughout the day. The same applies to your business. After a few hours, take a break for 15 minutes and do not work. You can take a lunch break or dinner break, but it doesn’t work. You’ll feel less stressed if you don’t think about your business.
These four tips should be followed daily. However, it is okay to occasionally stray from your plan. It’s okay to make mistakes. Sometimes, it is necessary to cope with a personal issue or get out of your own head. This may lead to you returning to your business with more positive intentions than before.
